My Favorite (Healthy) Labor Day Sales
(Although Labor Day is over, these brands may still have great sales, so check 'em out!)
It's been a long time since I've shared a good deal! Honestly, there's been a shift in my perspective of consumerism and the idea of excess consumption over the past few years. I support intentional and sustainable purchases (especially second-hand items from thrift stores or local buy-nothing groups! I also love renting clothes on Nuuly), not buying things just because they're on sale. That's why I'm not researching sales to share with you. The items I'm sharing below are ones that we've invested in over the years to improve our health and home, and they just so happen to be on sale! I know some of them will still be unattainable despite being on sale, but keep them in mind when you're ready to upgrade and make the investment; we love them and hope you will too. Enjoy!
Did you know? We breathe 20,000 breaths every day, and the toxins pass through our lungs and are circulated to the heart, liver, kidneys, brain, and other organs. According to the World Health Organization, long-term exposure to ambient particulate matter(PM) concentrations leads to a marked reduction in life expectancy. The reduction in life expectancy is primarily due to increased cardiopulmonary and lung cancer mortality. Increases are likely in lower respiratory symptoms and reduced lung function in children, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and reduced lung function in adults.
We bought our AirDoctor 3500 a few years ago and love it. We leave it on continuously and it's always interesting to see what makes it turn red and kick on full speed! We had a friend over who was broiling a dessert while we were all outside, and it got a little too broiled. The AirDoctor, from the other room, turned red and started going crazy to filter the air. It must've left an impression on my friend because she texted me the next day asking where I got that air filter, haha. Living in Los Angeles, it's also been helpful during wildfires and allergy season.
AirDoctor’sUltraHEPA Filter is independently tested and proven to remove airborne allergens and pollutants as small as 0.003 microns in size—that’s 100 times smaller than the HEPA standard. Particles that are larger than this (and therefore can easily be captured) include:
Dust & Pollen
Mold Spores
Cigarette Smoke
Pet Hair & Dander
AirDoctor’sUltraHEPA Filter Captures Germs and helps reduce:
Bacteria
Viruses
The AirDoctor combines their UltraHEPA filter with their proprietary, dual-action Carbon/GasTrap/VOC Filter. The dual-action activated carbon filter is catalyzed with potassium permanganate and removes:
Odors(cooking,pets)
Dangerous ozone
Gases and chemicals (VOCs) like formaldehyde.
I could go on and on about how much I love this thing, but I'll save that for anyone who wants to discuss more - just reach out to me! They have a variety of units for different spaces and right now, they're all on sale!
This is a newer purchase of ours that I talked my husband into, and I am so glad I did! We already own two of their Always Pans, but this griddle pan has been amazing for cooking multiple things at once. I went from cooking 1-2 pancakes at a time to 5! I can saute part of a recipe and then transfer it to the oven to bake. We can make our whole breakfast in one pan! I'm honestly not sure how I functioned before this griddle pan.
Not just great for baking, roasting, and all things in the oven, this genius sheet pan also works as a stovetop griddle over two burners. It’s a Griddle Pan that truly has the range.
The slightly-larger-than-usual size is perfect for dinner with friends, meal prep for one, or any size feast in between
Their exclusive safe, nonstick ceramic coating is made without PTFEs, PFOAs, other PFAS, as well as potentially toxic materials like lead and cadmium
Ergonomic side handles are easy to grip and roomy enough to use with oven mitts (or their Hot Grips!)

Ok, I'm kind of scared to add this one. We have been Berkey stans since 2018. Loyal customers for over six years, and I've turned so many people onto them! The water tastes amazing, and I love it. Recently, more information has come out about their filters not filtering as well as they say, and then there was the lawsuit. And I just haven't felt 100% about them lately. Enter AquaTru into our life. AquaTru creates purified, great-tasting water from your tap water—no plumbing or installation required. AquaTru uses the same technology as all the major bottled brands but in a convenient, compact countertop design. Their patented Ultra Reverse OsmosisÒTechnology is certified to NSF standards to remove 83 contaminants, so you can have peace of mind with every sip. I've been curious about them for a while, and we went back and forth on whether to get the Classic pictured above or the Carafe. We decided on the Classic since we drink a ton of water, and so far, it's been a great choice and switch! They offer 3 different systems, so you're sure to find one that fits your needs.
MATE is a sustainable, organic clothing company that I've had my eye on for a while as I focus on more intentional purchases, especially with clothing. It's been very much out of my price range... until I went to their LA Sample Sale. Everything was reasonably priced and I was able to stock up on a few items (my husband, too!). And let me tell you, we were immediately obsessed. Their clothes are so damn comfy, I can't even describe it. The best I can do is tell you that when I wear their sports bra, I feel like I don't have anything on, it's butter-soft. I also wear their Tencel Sleep Pant all of the time (currently wearing them while I write this, haha), and the Fleece Pocket Short has been a summer staple (both of these were only $25 at the sample sale!) I hope they have another sample sale soon so I can stock up on some more items, although, everything is totally worth the price.
MATE is on a mission to clean up the fashion industry, one garment at a time. As a business, they believe that prioritizing the health of the planet and its people is an urgent matter. By committing to non-toxic, natural, and Organic materials, they hope to lead the clean fashion movement and affect change in the industry. You can read more about their sustainability here. They also have a great Take Back Bag program where you can send in unwanted items and get a shopping credit for their website!
Right now they have 25% off sitewide, and a section up to 50% off!
Who else is guilty of keeping underwear way longer than they should? I've been slowly ridding myself of old undies and replacing them with organic cotton ones. The material in underwear wasn't really something I'd thought about until I started my fertility journey. And shortly after, I received information about a lawsuit against a company whose underwear I purchased that was misleading about their materials and did, in fact, contain PFAS which are linked to lower fertility. After that, I started researching more diligently, and recently, I discovered Subset. In addition to clean materials and sustainable practices, I was on the hunt for underwear with a mid-rise waistband because so many cut off too low and at an unflattering and uncomfortable point on my body, and Subset really nailed this! Plus, they're so soft and comfy to wear.
Known originally as 'Knickey,' the company launched in 2018 with a focus on intimates in organic cotton. With an update in 2023, Subset is a brand evolution that builds upon the company’s foundation and core values with an expanded offering of sustainable innerwear designed for daily living. Most clothing today is made from plastic-based materials that don’t breathe and trap moisture – creating a perfect storm for irritation and discomfort. As a natural fiber, cotton is the top choice recommended by doctors and OBGYNs because it's better for breathability, skin sensitivities, and a variety of other health issues. They go above and beyond with a certified organic fabric that is free from added chemicals and guaranteed to prevent unwanted irritation. They also have a recycling program where you can get credit for their website!
Honorable mention for period undies - Modibodi! They have up to 40% off right now.
p.s. If you're not in your local Buy Nothing Facebook Group, you should search for it and join! It's been a great way for me to gift items I no longer need, while also borrowing and acquiring new and used items for free.
